JESTER BALTIMORE CHALLENGE 2023 Sitrep 2 25/06/23

Finger's crossed. Duncan seems a pretty tough character.
Doesn't sounds hopeful does it. Unless he's deliberately hiding up a creek the most likely for him to not to be able to activate even the PLB, which presumably he'd have on him if MOB, is the boat was sunk by a ship. But then not even the EPIRB managed to do its thing? Knowing where the EPIRB was mounted would give a clue.

Perhaps not the right time for an outright discussion on this but I agree that AIS is becoming more and more important, especially when single handed.
There have been a couple of cases where fishing vessels have capsized and sunk fairly rapidly.

When the vessel is then reported overdue some hours later, having the last AIS position has saved hours of searching for the emergency services.

At 5 days overdue on a short route it isn't looking good, what'e the weather been like in that period?
I live within sound of the sea right on the SW tip of Wales. and I honestly cannot remember it blowing anymore than about F4 if that, in the past month. Not sure what the forecasts for further West out in the Celtic Sea have been, but nothing memorable along my stretch of coastline. There is a lot of shipping out there though...

Not good. Sailing solo myself and I wonder what would happen if I fell and was concussed or other problem. Hope we get some good news,

Very sad. Going over the side unconscious was the other possible reason for the PLB not activating I suppose. Can't mitigate for every risk we take.
