Fender socks, coiling rope, mechanical watch, the angle you wear your Tilley hat....these are all essentials in being a good sailor....we cannot accept behavior below these standardsI only mentioned it because the fact that I leave the handle on the winch generated some comments following an earlier post on this thread (#805).
I've been sailing for nigh on three decades now, and barring the first two/three years (and several dropped/lost winch handles) I've always done this.
I find it convenient and practical/efficient.
As I sail on my own 95% of the time, where's the harm?
Please enlighten me, why would this make me a bad sailor?
