No need to name names. If the cap fits......
I have no interest in personalising this or trading insults. Its not what grown-ups do! I merely seek to lend support to 'mudflats' original 'complaint' and his (and others) request for a more sensible approach. I have no doubt that this would extend the attraction of this Forum to a much wider audience outside the present MBCM*

A word of advice. Beware of jumping to conclusions. There are a number but the following 2 examples will suffice

- why do you assume I have had only '13 days exposure to this Forum'?.
True, I didn't register until 10/10 but had been visting the site for many
weeks before that. I have had more than enough time to form a view.

- oh, and why do you refer to me as 'my man'?

Thats it. Stay happy

ps I think the flags are quite an attractive feature - not at all in the 'silly' category. C'mon, I'm not that puritanical.

pps Byron can be assured that I don't have berries of any sort, hernias, warts or unsightly blemishes. And forget the bottle of house white. I prefer a case of Margaux shared between like-minded friends.

Saucy Boomer, kettles and pots

Boomer, really, chill out. You advocate droppng the banter and just exchanging boating info. Yet one of your posts, in response to a boatie (non banter) post that I made, went as follows, and I quote it in full:

"Do you mean 50/50 or is AC/DC more appropriate? And was the use of the word 'camp' a freudian slip?"

Now I don't object to that post at all, it was funny and good banter praps even saucy . But please, you are a person who posts boatie stuff and banter stuff, which is what the rest of us do, so pack in the moaning please. Or do we have to find precisely the same balance of banter/non banter as you to keep you happy? :)

"dingleberries on their rectum", ask them if they have tried Soltron for this problem. I'm sure it would do the trick.
Oop's, what was this forum about? I will shut up shall I.

the point...
One of the reasons I check this forum regularly is because it often has me in stitches. If it was all straight laced and to the point (other words - boring) it would not be half as popular.

I am afraid that I myself would have to go along with the idea of 'If you dont like it, then dont read it'

Regards
Mike

Re: Saucy Boomer, kettles and pots

Ahhhhhhhh.... I just knew that one would come back and bite me in the bum. I hoped no-one would recall that particular moment of madness. Still, it just goes to show that (surprisingly) I too am fallible. It doesn't, however, doesn't detract from the main debate which I must say (without patronising anyone) has been conducted largely without the usual nonsense. C'mon boys, you've shown you can behave properly if you try. Keep up the good work!!!

Not wishing to be accused of fred drifting, but what has this post got to do with boating?

I think it's absolutley disgusting the way some people post totally non boaty questions here. So what's the point of your post. It's nothing to do with boats is it.

After all that's why we're all here isn't it. To find out more about boating may be some people's aim. Personally I just like to hear what cock ups everyone else makes in and to their boats, so I can do my Terry Wogan impression, "it's not just me then".

13 days exposure - without being registered the read/un-read elements are a bit confusing. Why lurk? Jump on in.

"my man" - no offence, just a turn of phrase like good chap etc...

Re: boys! I don\'t think Pauline will like that at all!

Sorry guys but as soon as I saw this posting was about idiots I knew immediately that Mr M Flats couldn't possibly have been talking about me, so obviously no need for me to take offence. However, that said, if he can't take the heat then he should push off to PBO's kitchen!!

Grand welcome offered to Boomer, Saucerer-in-Chief

That post doesn't show that you're fallible, it shows you can banter. Only your posts in THISs thread show fallibility, as in you nearly behaved like a trainspotter but seem just to be seeing the light in time. The banter's staying (in moderation, as it has always been, with real boat stuff posted too) and it's great that new members join this BB, so be a devil and withdraw from the arguments you've made above, confess it was all a moment of madness, and join us....go on, place a post right now saying banter is ok and you're gonna throw in your fair share, and then drink yourself to oblivion on forthcoming MV2 party :))

PS great result for Man City last night everyone!! (oops)

Re: Hoovering....

Of course. The hoovering is done, the washing has been cleaned and ironed, the shopping has been bought and put away, the dishwasher loaded, the toilet cleaned, the children entertained ...and all done by my own fair hand by 7.30am so I can be at my desk for 9am. And not a word from you ChrisP!!!

Re: Deal done

Offer of Saucerer Apprentice post accepted. Require £1.3mpa plus bonus. BTW do you really have a SuperAmerica? Absoloootly beautiful machines if I may say, I do still see some around the S .Coast, fab

Also since this thred's drifted so far it doesn't know which planet it's on, can you explain who knows who, cuz it's confusing. Like PB is married to Mr B, and PB works at same firm as ChrisP, whose daughter works with MBM staff writer Kate, and all know Byron...and suzanne is someone's daughter, and and I'm confused. Please post family/work tree in powerpoint

Re: Deal done

I certainly do have a SuperAmerica and I'm deeply in love with it. It's so gorgeous I just can't begin to tell you. Anyway, now for the lowdown on who knows who. MrB and I are indeed married but I don't work with ChrisP (he's some sort of high flying super engineer thingy man). We know Chris from our days at Penton Hook Yacht Club but we're also neighbours now at Brighton Marina. I work for IBM. Chris and his family know Byron very well, but sadly, as yet, I've never met him. I think that's it.

Re: Deal done

Yup! I first met Chris a few years ago when he entered (for a giggle) a major boat handling competition, he beat the pants off everyone there including the habitual competitioners and walked away with all the cups. I also know MikeT very well and several others here too. Including our Kim. Hopefully I will get to meet boatone next season plus others who base on the Thames.
