Steel boat build - Almarine 1200fa

She looks amazing, very well done!
She seems to be sitting on her lines well. If you add ballast your waterline might be off.
Also, do you have a ladder for that fine bathing platform? A friend had issues with his insurers recently when a survey mentioned no boarding ladder. He had one but it was in a locker.

That looks really great, must have been a real mix of emotions.

I was definitely more stressed about her going in the water, than I was about it being lifted from the garden! The greatest win from yesterday is - no leaks! Shaft seals and rudder shafts were my greatest risk!

All being well, we’ll leave Conwy on Thursday afternoon bound for her summer home at Rowen Bay Port Dinorwic.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is where a bit of pirate local knowlege would have saved you a lot of future grief. Firstly Rowen Bay is a very beautiful mooring, BUT BUT BUT BUT

The moorings are light and in mud and tend to wander. Everyone will steal your mooring when you are out and it nestles in a tiny cove just below the naughty kids school who will delight in throwing rocks at your glass to see who can smash the most and will swim over and pillage your boat in a great party.

YOU MUST BE OFF YOUR TROLLEY!!!

there is a very good reason its bloody empty

it is pretty though and I used to like to stop over there on a transit

To be honest, the waterline was level with the internal floor structure, but height was was a guess based on photos. My aim will be to get her level with full tanks and no one aboard - within reason!
The boarding ladder for the swim platform is on the list. Just need to find a design that I’m happy with.

re the sad face

No joke, avoid. I know it's a late hassle but speak to CHT and move into the bay at PD instead. Or speak to the marina there, they also have a few moorings about. But dont risk it. That kind of thing is what ruins boating dreams. I'm sure @Brixham Bound will weigh in and tell you of the one night he stayed there. The moorings all shifted and the boats were banging together. He was so jaded he left early and chanced the swellies on a spring low water slack and reshaped his propellers on cheese rock, such was his hurry to flee the cursed spot.

EDIT

tbh I am surprised you got a mooring there. I know of the original 7 they lifted four out but certainly the old ones were only for boats under 7 tons max.

Well thank you for that!

The mooring that I have is new and laid by the Caernarfon Harbour Master for a design displacement of 20t. It’s a private mooring laid specifically for myself at my cost. Yes, I’m fully aware that others will pick it up for a few hours fishing or whatever when I’m not there - that’s the way of the world and I’ve done the same many times!
I’m aware of why the CHT don’t presently lay moorings in the bay as I’ve had discussions on this with the Harbour Master. It’s more to do with not being able to retrieve the ground tackle from the mud for inspection.
Are you sure the school you describe is still there? Above the bay, there is a health centre which has been there about 10 years!

All of the other Marina and CHT moorings at PD are limited to 15t!

I dont enjoy ruining your day, I reserve that for fellow pirates, but as you seem commited I wish you the best of luck. If you dont believe me, take a walk around the shore on Rowen Bay and count how many shattered booze bottles litter the shingle. However it unfolds, I wish you luck.

No previously at Rown Bay they were not. When the boats collided and it was time for insurance the first point of call was to CHT who side stepped the issue with that nugget saying not our problem. The visiting boat was overweight at 10T

Finally at our summer home! Just want to send out a massive thank you to Kawasaki for all of his help and support that he has given me over recent weeks and in particular for escorting us on our maiden voyage yesterday from Conwy. That alone gave us massive confidence that had something gone completely up s***t creek, we had a very experienced and knowledgeable guy there in support. Can’t thank him enough!
We have a couple of issues to resolve, but on the whole, things went well.
A few photos of Annie in her summer home as I was leaving her today!

Simply amazing John. Looks absolutely fantastic.

You’ll need to fill your drinks cabinet back up and get rid of all the fag butts Kwaka has left.

Apart from that…..,

Looks stunning John - you should be very proud of yourself!
Is she at full load condition? Is her waterline where you planned it to be? What are you plans for a boot line?

Yes, full tanks. The waterline was best estimate to be honest and level with the internal floor structure. At present, she is lying a bit low forwards And with a very slight list to port. I may fit some trim ballast to correct the list and then decide whether to try and correct the longitudinal trim. I will raise the waterline/anti foul by 50mm at first lift out.
