I saw that. The Hcalory 6-8.5kw. I'm a trifle confused in that the outlet is 90mm (which is good for those of us used to larger Eberspachers) but the physical dimensions in mm seem the same as when I Google the dimensions for a 5kw Chinese heater, that being about 380mm by 135mm by 135mm which is the same dimensions on the eBay link to this one..
It's still physically a fair shade smaller than the 5kw Webasto Evo 55.. It would be handy if this chap could do a direct comparison between say one of these and a larger Eberspacher or Webasto, since most boaty chinaspacher buyers will be replacing or choosing as an alternative to the big 2 German companies..

My original heater was an Eber D5LC which is 5 or so KW but physically huge. Closest to it is the Planar 9D but that uses a much bigger exhaust outlet etc and works out around 900 quid + the replacement exhaust skin fitting etc. I'm using a 5KW chinaspacher at the mo which works great but it's just physically not up to the job of pumping enough hot air to the area size of the Trader. A big fat chinaspacher would suit me down to the ground.

I've got a Webasto 5.5 air top sitting on a shelf so will be able to size them and also a standard 4 (5) kW Hcalory.
It certainly looks bigger in the video.

Splendid. You're just the man for this investigation. :D A friend of mine has the Webasto and it works great but it's a mighty expensive thing.

Yes my Webasto was 50-50 on starting and even if it did manage it, it failed to proceed producing heat for very long but on those rare occasions it did, it was way above the 4 kw's.

Funny isn't it. The current Evo 55 is over £2K... My china-fantatic has been run dry in the fuel tank a few time (I'm running a separate tank) and for all of its 120 quid, just keeps on burning away..

Would be nice to upgrade from the 5kw (realistically 3-4kw ?) For this larger model but everything else would also have to be upsized. The display looks smart.

New video from him with a back to back test

Thanks.. I watched that. The burn chamber is certainly bigger than the Triclicks 4(5)kw one. The rest appears to be the same. That said he did get higher heat output readings so it's certainly a bit more powerful in the heat department, but uses the same fan size so air volume will be much the same I would expect.

Having looked at the adverts for these on ebay, the stated fuel consumption maxes out at .58 ltrs/hour. Simple chemistry says you cant get 8kw or anywhere near it.
I think for comparison, the Webasto Air Top Evo 55 which is 5kw or 5.5 on boost burns around the same fuel consumption, give or take 0.03 litres so probably somewhere around a genuine 5kw output I'd guess but I know the Webasto gets exceptionally hot as a friend has one on his boat.

Thanks mate.. I watched this video last night. It seems consistent with a Chinaspacher with an enlarged combustion chamber. So looks like a little under 5kw out the nozzle end and using around 5.5kw of energy to do it. And it's pretty efficient when 'giving it the beans' but not very efficient if you have it on trickle, which kinda makes sense I guess with in what ways the heater is bigger.. Controller looks quite nice even if David wasn't able to change too much on it..

I think I've found why my friends Webasto 55 is sooo hot. His heater is mounted under one of the seats in the saloon, not in the engine room like mine. So the distance from the heater to the first outlet is about 20cm!!!
I did think having the heater where only the 'seal' of the seat itself as a barrier between it and the cabin was frowned upon?
