I may be looking at running a small outboard boat, say 20-21 feet, for just a couple of seasons on the East Coast: Essex, Suffolk rivers. I could get a bigger car, tow it home or to store with a farmer, but I also wondered if it might be possible to dry stack it and do without the agro, trailer, storage, new car etc. Perhaps I should ask in the East Coast Forum, but before doing that does anyone here have any thoughts?

Try 'Brightlingsea Boat Park and Ride' or L H Morgan 'Park and Ride' Brightlingsea - different companies but similar tractor launch and recovery service and fresh water rinse after - you will need a trailer but they can sell you one if boat doesn't come with one, most do. (Can sell you a boat and all the bits.).10 minutes to unlimited speed water and 2 water ski areas - 1 managed by a club - They can probably help you with a collection or direct you to someone local who can. Moorings also possible.

Most of rest of East Coast rivers - Stour, Orwell, Deben, Alde are mainly speed limited. No fork lift dry stack on the East Coast. Ramps suitable for self launch are very limited. Mainly through yards or club controlled. Moorings may be easier to find for that sized boat. Suffolk rivers mainly with 8 knots.

Don't know what might be possible for storage and launch on the Blackwater, Crouch or Medway.

That is absolutely brilliant, thank you very much. It would not be used for water skiing but for 'surveying' as part of an archaelogical/historical project, so a small shallow draft boat that can work inshore and also move fairly rapidly from site to site. So something like an Orkney or similar. This looks like a great solution.

Would be interested to hear about your project and what period you are investigating.
