I remember one being on a pontoon opposite one which disgorged a crew of at least 8 including a dog almost the size of a St Bernard. They cooked on the pontoon and washed up on the pontoon. She was certainly down on her marks. My wife says the family had one when they were young.

I don’t remember the Muscadet class but back in the ‘70s there was a large Bowman yawl called Muscadet of Harty. We came across her once on the Ore and met the owner ashore. He complimented us on our anchoring, which had not been very challenging in our 22’ Cirrus. On another occasion a friend and I had a lot of Muscadet for lunch in Fecamp and then fished erratically for mackerel from an Avon. In the end the mackerel, which had been put in a bucket, were almost uncookable because they had died banana-shaped.
