Yep, this is what the transport firm I'm using have said this morning as well. So, I think it's a no.

Cheers
Jimmy

The cost of the cover is roughly the same as the cost of a full clean and polish, so i'd let it get grubby on the way there, and pay someone to valet it when in France. That way you get a shiny boat ready for the season.

We moved our SC35 from Falmouth to Ibiza last summer, I was still able to use the boat in November as it was 22 degrees then...
Ibiza is a stunning place to keep a boat, not quite as good where we are now, but it was still 17C yesterday and pretty calm conditions, compared to god knows what back in the UK.

Best decision we ever made was to move. :D

ACE if your elbows and hoses split when the drives were beached, there well past there sell by date and will require replacing otherwise you will one day get overheating probs when on the plane, the hoses should be nice and flexible.

Thanks volvopaul yes indeed ALL sorted before she went back into the water, we replaced them all and didnt have any further problems but it was lucky I guess that my guys down there noticed it ........ as they saying goes I learn more each day :D

Which shipping company did you use? How much notice do they need?

Welcome to the forum. I'm using Coast to Coast; I'm fairly flexible with my dates, and so far they've offered two dates, both with a couple of weeks notice. Unfortunately both the dates they've offered have been a bit too quick for me, but it's looking promising for next month.

Cheers

Thanks Jimmy, we are hoping to do the same trip end of May so pleased to know what you think of them. Good to know notice periods are short.

I used C2C to transport my Targa from Torquay to Sant Carles, they did an excellent job at both ends at a very competitive price. It was cheaper to have them take my F43 from Gib to SCM, but unfortunately they could not hit the dates, so Hurricane and Mary joined us to bring her around, almost a year ago to the day.

Hope it all goes well for you, I'm out next Wednesday, can't wait.......

Well, progress has inevitably been a little bit slower than I hoped - but finally the servicing work is complete, and the boat is being relaunched on the Hamble at the beginning of next week. It's been a bit of a tough one, this service - as well as servicing both legs and engines, we've ended up fitting new steering rams and hoses, a replacement rudder indicator cable, reconditioning one fuel cooler and replacing the other, and replacing one trim ram. All told it's been a bit ouch!

The replacement anchor chain has arrived, all 80m of it, and is now in the boat. I'm hoping I'll get time to paint some 10m markers on it before the boat heads south. The reupholstering of the saloon sofa by C&J Marine should finish tomorrow - I've added an armrest to one end of the sofa, in an attempt to make it a bit more interesting for them. Can't wait to see how it looks.

The plan now is to launch early next week, try everything out over the following weekend, and lift again around 15 March for final prep. Transport is now booked for 22 March. I've still got about 50 things to organise...

Cheers

Sounds like you are near enough a full time PM on this activity at the moment. Any spare time for work?

I use those rubber markers from chandlery shops (I have them just at 20m, 30m and then 50m), they work quite well (since SWMBO can't seem to figure out the readout on the remote)

Here is Antibes, shot from bow of my boat looking over to the Fort, about 11am this morning. Glorious day, and I could have gone to sea in a T shirt but was doing a boatyard job instead. Hurry on down!

Hah! I was out in a polo shirt on 1 March in UK. But 3 March it was snowing. I'm supposedly in SoF sometime in early April though.
