    Sea Feather, back in business

Thought people may want to know but Sea Feather have been bought! Although the website hasn't been updated it looks like Sea Feather are under new ownership!

Autohelm 2000 3 wire ram vs 4000 2 wire ram.

I've recently aquired an Autohelm 2000 ram (old compass type model) which I was hoping to use as a spares to repair an broken 4000 type tillerpilot ram. They're totally different (sizes, motor, bushes etc) so I'm hoping this will work and I can use it as a spare unit. It has 3 wires going to a...

    Headsail furlers

Been very happy with my Sailspar, the "old sea dog" on youtube has gone half way around the world on his unit which I think was one of the older models. I would have to look back but think it was around £1400 for my 30 foot masthead 6mm wire jobbie.

And for my next project ... a Corribee Mk2

I mush admit, I have a massive itch for a Corribee to the point I'm tempted in making an offer on the tatty one in our club to get back on the water for my two boy's for when their older, As the eldest is 5 it'll probably be just as tatty when they're old enough to go out on their own. Good...

    Ofcom RTE selection

I've got a Sea-me RTE and trying to add it to my ships radio licence. I've noticed there's two different options Ship Radar Target Enhancer (Active) 2,900 to 3,100 MHz and 9,300 to 9,500 MHz Radar Target Enhancer 2,900 to 3,100 MHz and 9,300 to 9,500 MHz Now, I didn't think there was a...

Border Force, the RYA, and £1000 fine !

I would have thought if BF had collared them in a patrol boat and they hadn't "checked in" flying Q and called Yachtline yet then they hadn't "arrived" and could file the documents there and then. Seems a bit unfair BF wouldn't insist on a PCR on arrival and no "check in" till you get a negative...

New battery only 12v from shop?

I work in the motorcycle trade and have sold the Dynavolt range in the past, they became hard to get, in the UK at least (last YTX9BS we sold was July 2019) so I would suspect they've had it sat on the shelf for a while. Is it a blue case or black? Are you using it on a bike or something...

Thousands of crabs and lobsters washed up on Yorkshire beaches,

There's been reports of dogs falling quite ill up that way after being walked on beaches, I wonder if there's a connection?

Good supplier of tinned mast cable and tinned coax cable in the UK?

KCB do RG58 MIL which is tinned - Coax (loose) I wanted to use RG8X as it was a longish run. I struggled to find it outside America but got it fast from here - Ancor RG8X Coaxial VHF Cable | VHF Coaxial by Metre As for tinned wiring, 12v planet suits me, you may get it slightly cheaper...

A friend found this on his Moody 47., I'm sure he won't mind me posting it.

    Navik wind steering

I sold my Navik because getting parts is an issue, bought a Sea Feather instead but this was a challenge in itself! I hear Mr Vee won't ship to the UK any more as well? I've been looking for another unit with the thought of reproducing parts for people but not found one yet. (I may have a loan...

Question about tricolour at top of the mast and steaming lights

I would just keep the all round white (with an led) for sailing and motoring tbh but no harm in adding deck lights as a backup if you really want to.

Is there a perfect boat for me?

Amel Kirk 36 can't be far off what you're after. (EDIT, just seen budget)

    Unusual Tillerpilot connector plug question.

Yes, certainly wouldn't use one on a boat, can't see it lasting long around sea water.
