Left Thurrock on Friday at noon in strong winds and heavy rain hoping the promise of better weather on the way was going to emerge. Had a hover about Tilbury docks to taunt my mates in the cranes, reminding them they had to work all weekend and I didn't! Phew, some dockers can't half swear!.
Headed away from Tilbury and up river to the tune of all the big blue cranes klaxon's going at full blast. This is the life!
By the time we reached Greenwich the weather had brightened and the wind had calmed to around a four. We were the only ones in the lock at St Katherines which was a rare luxury. Moored up without a hitch, bump or scratch, it don't get much better than this. We saw a fantastic show at the Dominion (We will rock you) which, if you havn't seen it yet, I can't recommend it enough.
Visited some lovely restaurants in Covent Garden and The Strand. By Sunday when it was time to go home the weather was gorgeous. Locked out and turned right to go up river and take in the London eye then headed back towards Thurrock. Got about half way home when we decided the day was so nice we'd carry on to Gillingham, off we went. Arrived at Gillingham, eased into the tight moorings like proffessionals, then spent the evening in Rochester. Had dinner in the new club house in the marina then poodled off home.
THATS IT! NO PROBLEMS! IT WAS BL**DY GREAT!
I could get used to this.
What did you's lot get up to??
