I watched it following mention on here. Virgin's TV on demand is a great thing, a weeks worth of selected programs accessible at any time...
Anyhow, I don't care what people say, back up team or not, and no secret was made of this, in fact she made it clear she would not finish it if she were alone.
I would not have done it, I have white water rafted, I have sailed in poor weather, played lifeboats in even poorer weather, but in no way would I take a small canoe into the bitches at the top of a spring tide. Those who belittle this because a safety boat was there might like to sail a big boat through the bitches and say the same thing.
When I sail past St. Davids I am not ashamed to say that the passages scare the willies out of me, the swellies is a boating lake compared to watching the sharp rocks to the left, the right, in front ... as you sneak through at slack water at 9 knots!
Considering how frightened she was, I think it was a true testament that she did not run away, even on the final task she rolled in the surf and the bitches itself, but got up and did it again. I was on the edge of my seat willing her on, the girl has guts and would put most of us to shame. She can crew on my boat any day of the week.
And no, I don't fancy her and find that attitude belittles a fantastic effort with true grit.
