Lannett, which size Azi is that? 46? Looking good!
? ? ?
Thank you - It’s the 42Lannett, which size Azi is that? 46? Looking good!
AgreedWell, it wasn't possible with a 435, so won't be with a 50, I suspect.
We looked at taking down the radar arch, but would still have had to remove the perspex coaming and possibly the handrails.
Far too much hassle - and the outside passage was more fun.
Going at canal speed with twin engines of that size is also not ideal.
As PlanB below statedCan you give some detail information about the route Calais to Sete / inland?
Would this be possible with a Princess 50 Fly, beam / draught: 4.47 / 1.12 m, clearance: 5.25 m
Interesting plan. Other than saying that I’ve no idea on trucking possibilities/prices from Bordeaux, my only thought would be to build in some fallback bolt holes on the longer legs which - in the Channel/Atlantic look like 8 hour stints at a high cruise and would not take much to turn them into more than you might want to do in a day - assuming the idea is to enjoy the passage-making rather than grimly press on whatever. From the Netherlands to Italy - Cruising and Trucking:
A proposal for some sailing along the coast to France - Bordeaux.
Trucking / Roadside from Bordeaux to French coast / e.g. Cap d'Agde, Marina (around 400km)
The final leg to Italy / Varazze or Genoa by cruising with the boat.
It would be around 950 nm trip with the boat and appx. 400 km on the truck. Based on weather, stopovers and trucking a great journey in a 6 weeks timeframe.

...... not yet .... but I see many good offers around the Netherlands, and I have some good contacts.Does this mean you have bought a boat in Holland.
The chart is a simple overview: I would take a timeframe of overall 6 to 8 weeks. This would be many stopover or some days/nights in some ports along the route. Most based on weather forecast and local situation. The crew would be me (skipper, steward, cock, deckhand, engineer ...) and some parts with my wife, with friends and other captains. The legs with 100 nm per day would be very limited.Interesting plan. how to avoid this - or I need some christmas points ???
Sheesh that's a lot of crew in a 50 footer for a 6 week trip. Obviously you are free to do as you wish but it feels like a very strange plan imho. It's going to be crowded. Maybe you might want to think about a bigger boat like say 26/27m if that's how you want to run it.me (skipper, steward, co[o]k, deckhand, engineer ...) and ... other captains.
I think he means that he will fulfil all the roles when required - plus wife and others when available.Sheesh that's a lot of crew in a 50 footer for a 6 week trip. You may want to look at starting the road part a bit further north around La Rochelle as this is the area where most of the big builders are located and trucking easy to find. also most of the best places to visit are north of there - less attractive the further you go south towards Bordeaux. From the Netherlands to Italy - Cruising and Trucking:
