Hi all
Went out on the boat for a few days, got back last evening.
My other half greeted me with a nice smile and said " I'v got something for you" Now I hate surprises, You do not know whether to smile or cry!

I'v bought a couple of things for the boat, Big smile on my face now! Great what is it? says I seeing a couple of boxes on the table.

Must explain first, she hates lighting the gas on the boat!!

Only been and bought a 12 volt kettle and a coffee maker, also 12 volt, plus a " triple socket adapter" so I can plug more things into the lighter socket, As well as having the T.V on!
All well and good, "Trouble is I only got two eighty amp batterys"

There she says "that will save using the gas all the time"
Have'nt the heart or the nerve to tell her " NO WAY" suppose I could always say they fell over the side when I was putting them on the boat!!!!!!!!

Quick burst of 240v through them should sort them out. Then take them to boat, plug in, and .......'oh dear! they don't work, probably a voltage surge or something, that alternator has been playing up and (fill in with mumbo jumbo technical drivel)'/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

<hr width=100% size=1>Err, let me know if Depsol enters the forum, I'll go and hide

strangely enough just got back from the harbour where i met brother in law about to load up the boat for a week away."How come", he says, "i can go off to the scillies for a week on my own, with just a holdall, yet taking the misses involves a car load of gear ,including 12V hairdryer, kettle and T.V."

I've always NOT wanted one of those BBQ thingies you clip on the rail. Can't think of anything more useless in a Force 8

Had a similar experience, 12 V kettle for the car, not the boat. Fortunately, the first trial concluded that it took nearly half an hour to boil little more than a pint of water, so it has been consigned to the cellar ever since.

No problem. Buy a bottle of bubbly on the way home then put your arm round her and tell her that this is to celebrate her eventually becoming a true boaty. Then show her any useless tat that you've bought over the years. If you don't have any, just buy some cheap stuff out of Argos that looks as if it could be useful on the boat. You can do this before, or after, she discovers how slow the electric one is.

yes ex "Wheal Jane", underground fitter for several years, Shame its all gone now,
Good years when I look back! Seems like a very long time ago now though!

Not into the racing thing myself, Just like cruising around, usually found anywhere between
Penzance and Weymouth,
Tend to spend most of the summer on the boat, went down last thursday all loaded up to go off for
two or three weeks, what did I get? bloody gales! stuck it out in the river till Tuesday evening,
got cold and fed up looking at the same stretch of windy water for days,
But as you say looking good for the weekend !

all the best mike
