Solent - places to practice anchoring

Bouldnor bay is deffo OK to anchor, as is Thorness, and outside Newtown. Or at least everyone still does. There have been mutterings about seagreass, but the killjoys have not yet pissed on our parade.
Not all of Thorness. C Map (B&G) shows a no anchor zone from middle of the bay all the way up to Gurnard. Navionics show two cables coming into the bay from Beaulieu, the western most one almost level with the C Map no anchor zone. I don't have Admiralty charts to check whether it's on there too.

The Isle of Wight's main and reserve 132kV cables come ashore in Thorness Bay

The only up to date charts I have access to right now are Orca and there's no 'no anchor' zone on that and the area outside Newtown Creek is marked with an Anchor just as it always was. Google is silent. I can't find a NTM.

I could easily be wrong but I think the no anchor Zone might just be a weird feature of Navionics Charts with no legal basis.

Someone asked a few years back with no takers:
Thanks for that info Mark-1.
It would seem that one solution is to refer to the chart that gives the answers one wants. Bit like weather forecasts.

If you try out your anchoring at East Head in chi harbour it’s a lovely spot but the actual area if you have any keel worth speaking of is quite narrow. Advantages are the beach is close by but beware you might have surprise visitor at 2am who drifts down to say hello. I’m told that meant new friendships are also made in early hours at Newtown creek. Remember if anchoring in these areas to leave fenders down on both sides to cushion arrival of your surprise guests4 (ps they might arrive in 2 smal boats already buddy up so you end up with a triple raft on your trusty Rocna)

Perhaps it’s a good thing that the guy in the pink boat is firmly aground.
