Absolutely confirm that. At one point last Saturday as I was heading 'upstream' in the fairway at Itchenor, just above the Itchenor SC when I was confronted by 2 v. large Stinkies overtaking another, ie. 3 abreast at a reasonable pace but taking up the whole channel for some distance - and the wash!!. Coming back down channel later, the resident of one moored Raggie called out to me 'Bloody M25 here today!'. 'Smells like it' I replied!.
Ya call motor boats stinkies....and you don,t like the noise they make....and you sit in your cockpits watching with eager anticipation for complaint sized wakes....and oh dear something slid off the cockpit table...what a bunch of ******* get with it chaps the boat is in the water its bound to move... if ya can,t handle it without winning then get back on the land where ya belong......
Well, if you read my post you can see I refer to Power Boats and also made the point that Yachts were causing excessive wash as well on Sunday. You are correct, all craft move and cause disturbance, but 250,000 tonnes fully laden at 7kts makes less wash than a 10tonne Yacht or Power Boat at displacement wave speed.
Really? Can you explain, as it seems unlikely to me.
big tanker is displacing 250,000 tons through 700ft per minute. or 392x10**9 ft-lbs per minute. A 10 ton yacht would have to be travelling at 175,000 kts to displace water at the same rate.
Wow!! they do move fast in your neck of the woods, I am glad I am a muddie.
