What does the forum think of the latest EU proposal to deface the Red Ensign with the EU stars? One British MEP (Lab.) thinks it no different fron stars on a car number plate!

I heard that the Conservatives were thinking of scrapping the points penalty on speed cameras. You will just get fined instead.

I know this means they are still getting their money, but hey, at least our licences are not under so much risk.

Sorry going off the subject here.

Agreed, as I said, they will get there money.

I would not be suprised that if this did come into force they will increase the fine at the same time.

Mind you, if I was in court facing a ban, I would pay very good money to keep my licence.

Actually I think they were proposing a more graduated penalty system and a more sensible siting of cameras .. whereby 80% of current sitings are not at accident spots. Time this govt actually ran this country for the benefit of the residents of this country rather than trying to sort out Basra .. I'd rather my taxes went to educate my children rather than paid for the infrastructure and policing of one of the oil richest regions in the world

<hr width=100% size=1>.. when's that again, but ..

Reading todays paper - there is an estimated 1 million on the road with no tax, insurance, driving licence or MOT!
It appears that some of the offenders have been exported/deported to us free of charge from our good neighbours within the EEC.

They are changing the rules on road tax now, you get fined automatically if you do not either buy your disk or declare your car off the road. £80 fine through your letter box.

Here is the speed camera link <A target="_blank" HREF=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3355879.stm>http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3355879.stm</A>

That has been around for some time now. We fell foul of it when we took over our daughters car becuase it had failed it;s MOT. We decided to leave it on our drive in the corner but were unaware that we needed to fill in a form. I think we ended with a £60 fine and when explain they just said tough.

I have always thought that we should abolish road tax and add it onto fuel. Then noone who uses the road can get away with it. The system works in other countries but in UK we have to make everything as difficult and as secret as possble.

Yes that would be good.

I suppose if you get in an accident with someone who is not tax'd, their insurance will not be interested which leaves you in a difficult position.

I thought the automation was a new thing on the fines, 3 weeks I think, fine lands on the door mat.

Re: rocking horses

Does the jury not find it somewhat ironic that whilst we are to be nagged that rocking horses are dangerous (so are chairs: phew! just think if you should fall off! Off with their legs!), we are not entitled to know which planes are liable to drop out of the sky.
