Hi friend has a moody 34 with a Thornycroft Misubishei. 95 whilst motoring normally suddenly revs drop to tick over once stopped and started again got him back to his berth. Having run the engine under power attached to the pontoon the engine did the same again he has checked all hoses all seem in good condition none blocked also checked the breather. Apparently the engine has an electric fuel pump checked connections they seem ok. He now wonders if the pump might be faulty, is it a diaphragm pump could this be damaged so can’t supply enough fuel for more revs than tick over? Any help much appreciated. Thank you Mike

Another possibility is some muck in the pipe lifting from the tank, but this gets raised to a right angle and jams in this blocking the flow. My father had similar problems with an engine and the solution by the engineer was to disconnet the pipe from the tank and blow the blockage out.
