Then why did they not state that!

I spent the last few years involved with writing engineering standards putting them in a language was treated very seriously.
They've also use 'should' where clearly the government's published rules require a 'shall'.

Hmm, so still no proper sailing until April without dealing with nosy harbour masters, shame about the lack of reliable sneaky anchorages round these parts.

Well I’ve been keeping my head down in general but I was desperate to get down to the boat on Sunday because its due to come out soon and I’m having the mast down.

However I’m stuffed now because we’ve got 10 days in the cooler. Wifey had to go in for a small procedure on Thursday and THE NURSE who treated her has tested positive but our “world leading” track and trace didn’t contact us until MONDAY EVENING!

Obviously I didn’t know on Sunday and I did press the button that opens the gate, I did hold on to the rail down to the pontoons and I did go for the odd phish.

I‘m feeling guilty now because I’ve started to feel off colour this afternoon but I’ve not got a burning head or anything.

We’ll see how it pans out but I can’t waste 10 days, that’s for sure.

Which of course a textbook example of why only essential travel is supposed to happen, not going out because it suits maintaining your hobby and what can go wrong when people think that they can ignore the guidance and/or rules for their own convenience.

Also a pretty good example of some type of people's rather despicable habit of trying to deflect blame onto the government/ NHS/Nurses or anyone else rather than taking responsibly for their own actions.

My bold.
No surprise that your area is a darker shade on the map with that attitude.
It's people like you prolonging this for the rest of us.

Even if he was infectious as at Sunday (which is rather unlikely given the possible contact took place on Thursday evening) I'd say this particular outing is fine if normal handwashing was observed. Presumably our friend didn't cough or sneeze on his hand before pressing the button or holding the guardrail; and presumably the marina has sanitiser bottles liberally distributed for use by all?

It's an outdoor, well-ventilated space.

He might just as well have gone to the local park and put his hand on the gate, or handled a supermarket trolley; either of those would be higher risk given the numbers of people involved.

I always wash my hands after a whizz, thank you.

I feel a bit flushed today but I haven't got a cough or a funny taste and we're getting the Tesco stuff delivered. Track & Trace specifically say only get a test if you have symptoms.

I'm hoping I'll be alright for the weekend as I haven't even got the boom off yet but I'll wear gloves & mask just to be on the safe side.

I know a few folk who caught covid who are convinced they contracted it in a supermarket, as that was the only place they had been. Having a higher risk partner, we quarantine our food when it arrives and when I do go to the supermarket I wear gloves and am fastidious about how and when I remove them after shopping & unloading the shopping back at home. It's been a complete pia but I'm just in that habit now. Same as when I'm out. I'm always surprised that very few people appear to take any precautions when touching a shopping trolley handle or at a petrol pump - these would seem high frequency and obvious transmission points to me

That's been the problem with the whole lockdown, we're only addressing things which are convenient and popular. The queues outside coffee shops are a testament to this - iced mochafrapacino lattes are the very definition of non-essential and yet have remained open with massive queues outside. Amazon have continued to push little packets of potential virus into peoples homes, and at greater scale than ever before. And yet here we are discussing whether Shaun pressing a button which in all liklihood he was the only person to push that day is a problem.

And yet you're required to isolate for 10 days unless you have a negative test so...

Even when self isolating you are still allowed out for essentials if you have to.

If I do go to the boat I'll take every precaution. I do risk assessments at work so I know what I'm talking about.

Other than stopping for fuel I won't come near another human being.

I don't think that's the case and I'm pretty sure you'd be breaking the law by doing that, at the very least it's incredibly selfish in this scenario. There is a world of difference between sensibly keeping to yourself when you're pretty sure you're healthy and won't infect others compared to being explicitly told you have to self isolate at home because you've definitely been in contact with someone who tested positive. Just suck it up and complete the self isolation as required.

No disrespect Coveman but Track & Trace SPECIFICALLY told us not to go for a lateral flow test as they are not accurate enough.

It even says so on your link!

If you’ve been told to self-isolate
Do not go to a test site

Can't anybody on here follow a simple set of instructions?

The link just explains what to do in both scenarios - if you have symptoms or not. As I understand it only some areas are doing the lateral flow tests.
If you have been told to self isolate you can order a test kit, if you can't get to a test site. An extract from the link-
"Get tested as soon as possible if you have symptoms
Book a visit to a test site to have the test today. Test sites are open 7 days a week. Order a home test kit if you cannot get to a test site."

If you have been ordered to self isolate and not get a test you should do that - SELF ISOLATE

We've been told to only order a test if we are showing symptoms and although I feel a bit under the weather I'm not showing any symptoms.

Received the following from the Marina today -

"If all goes well, Monday April 12th will be the date that some travel restrictions will be lifted and allows the use of boats with overnight stays. Up until then only commercial tradesmen will be allowed to work on boats on the site. The police recently visited Dartside Quay and fined people who were there for no legitimate reason working on their privately owned boats. If these timings change then I will send an update."

Seems that they are not prepared to let us visit our boats until we can stay overnight. Makes a bit of a mockery of the ending of the "stay at home" advice at the end of March.
