Seems like a good reason to ditch the RYA membership and join the CA who seem to be a lot more proactive?
One of my Christmas presents last year was a year's membership of the CA.

I had not previously realised what a fine organisation it is, I wish I had joined years ago.

many thanks Bobc and to the CA . Presumably once the form is downloaded and submitted there is no mandatory requirement to actually arrive as plans change so won’t you just submit to your preferred -port well in advance - I haven’t looked on website but why not just hand in the form to the marina office at the designated port ? Must be far simpler process.

Fantastic. Another BrexitBonus.

More red-tape to spoil our enjoyment of the Freedoms of the Sea.?

In any case, thanks to the CA to try and mitigate this sh*tshow. I agree with another poster above: time to consider subscribing to them

The French seem to be trying to make it as simple as possible for us to visit and spend our money there. I suspect there will be more problems with HMRC and UK Border Force on this side of the channel than there will be on their side.

Another for the CA. We joined for info and help about sailing to and around the Baltic - which was very good. Meant to go April 20 to take advantage of the last year before 90/180 kicked in; and then cruise this year and come back next. Plans eh! During this time they have kept us up to date with all CV19 and Brexit related developments, both from the authorities and from on-the-ground personal experiences. And they keep us up to date with what they are lobbying for. The subscription has been well worth it.

If anyone wants to join then they have a "Introduce a new Member" scheme where both get something out of it. PM me if you want the code.

Is there some sort of equivalent paperwork for EU boats entering UK waters?
regards r

Yes, same same Customs form that UK boats entering UK waters have to fill out, then you have to ring Border Force.

That is until the vapourware smartphone app appears (if ever)

This is the official guidance:
Notice 8: sailing your pleasure craft to and from the UK

...but I gather from past threads that there's an app in development and some of our fellow forumites are beta testers. More than a few folk, myself included, don't have boundless optimism where the phrase "government I.T. project" is concerned.

This was actually proposed by some marinas at the start of the project but added a link to a simple chain, both when submitting the form and with any response back. Online should be easier and means the notice is submitted to the authorities before arrival rather than afterwards, which of course is the same for arrivals to the UK.

So it's going to just be a box-ticking exercise both ways, which is good.

I wonder how long before the 90 day limit gets extended for cruising yachtsmen.

Yes, that's what I want to see.

And not only yachtsmen. I think there could be a lot of pressure from second-home owners, caravan owners, etc.

From this months YM

So the madness of the UK approach for boats arriving is that HMRC and Border Force have not thought to coordinate the process, and therefore need to contact both Yachtline and lookup a number from a long list for Border Force - not even a single number available for the latter).
I believe both RYA and CA have pointed out the madness of this uncoordinated approach by UK bureaucrats.
