Hi collective.
I just bought what was advertised as a Waterland 700, it did not look like one to me and still the documents that came with the boat said it was a Waterland 700.

Today when registering the boat I ran into some problems with the numbers, not the registration number which is fine and the boat is registered, so phoned the FOMV helpline and with their help I got the registration changed over to myself and the wife, however when we said it was a Waterland 700 the guy said no it is a Falcon 7.5meters, I am now trying to find out what the boat exactly is, I got documents of the Waterland 700 and 750 and they are of a completely different layout internally and the hull is different too being a semi displacement where our boat looks to be full displacement, not seen her out of the water yet. She is 7.5m overall, 7.02m LWL, 2.5m broad, and either 0.5m or 1.11m of draught both those figures are on the title papers - I lean more to the 0.5m but I can get in the lazarette without any problem, air draught is 2m
So I'm hopping someone can help identify the make and model for me.

Engine hatch / Lazarette engine is a 2cyl Diesel Volvo Penta MD7A of 13hp and behind the wooden bulkhead at the back of the lazarette.

If you google Falcon boats you will find the name has been used by many builders for all sorts of different boats - none of which look like yours.

I understand you have bought the boat in Holland and if you google Waterland 700 you get loads of images of boat that look remarkably like yours.

TBH what does it matter. It is what it is a 40 year old boat in nice condition. Just enjoy it.

I have googled and yes there are loads of “Falcons” I’m just interested in finding out. We bought what we seen and we are happy with that, she is exactly what we want just now. I would love to put a name to the face so to speak.
She floats, she has dry bilges, the engine starts and runs well, and she is dry inside, what more do I need? As Nick is fond of saying “if you are floating, you are boating”

If the boat matches what you were told and not what the other bloke thinks then he could be wrong.
Plus it is a nice looking boat.

It is not the Waterland 700 or 750 the internal arrangement is totally different and the hull shape is different too, it was advertised as a Waterland 700 a few months ago and then a few days ago the owner's daughter advertised it as a Waterland 750, which when I got the documents and drawings for the 700 and 750 it patently was neither of those boats, those boats are semi displacement hulls where the boat I bought is a round bilge and pure displacement, the engines for the 700 & 750 start at 38hp and go up where as this boat has a 13hp in a completely different location by the transom, 13hp is all my boat needs, it can get up to hull speed with that, as long as it does not exceed 20km/h then it does not require a licence to drive the boat.

We are very happy with the boat, and we are ecstatic with the price :) she needs a good clean, a lick of paint, and repairs to the boarding ladder, plus we will be renewing the cushions and matrass and the electrics need a good sorting out, none of these tasks are beyond my wife and myself.

I posted this video on the other thread I did in Motorboats, my wife is sitting on the transom seat filming this and the engine is below and behind her.

This is the Waterland 75 / 750

The previous owner gave the wrong details in his advert, the "other guy" was from the waterways registration department of the Federal Overheids Deinst (sort of like the HMRC) and he had access to the original registration documents and pictures of the boat, we have to supply a photo of the boat when registering it.

So far it has cost €57 to change the ownership and register it in our names, and then insurance which is mandatory of €66, next there will be the waterways tax of about €100-€110 after the registration is completed and then the club and mooring fees of about €700 per year, plus the club fees give us access to the other marinas in Belgium and the smart card for operating the lock gates on the rivers and canals.

Wife has planned our first trip when we come back from Scotland to the Maasmechlen Outlet Village in Holland, she wants to go shopping there, I told her that this is not a freighter :D it is an easy trip and quite popular with boaters in the area as there are no locks to pass and none all the way to Maastricht which for our boat is a 12hour sail.
