The plastic that people use to put on the safety lines/guard wires or rigging. Cut 20mm and slide it inside the worn stantion.
Many boats are starting to get this problem so will be 8nt3resting to hear other ideas.

Hi,
Any suggestions on sorting a worn stanchion?, some sort of wrap around sleeve?. Cheers DB
Time for a new one or have it welded. There's clearly very little metal left.

If it were less worn it could have been repaired with a bush but that's really too far gone.

By way of an update, I have gone with the small pipe idea, the hole is 10mm, this pipe maybe too soft but will keep an eye on it, thanks all for swift answers. Cheers

Is the stanchion cracked in the lower left of the hole ? as well as worn ...... if so - over here - I would make a trip to a metals guy to see if he can repair.
This. It's done. A serious welding repair at a minimum. Grind out and weld the crack. Fill the hole (or at least the wear) and re-drill. A new one, if available, would be cheaper.
