Yes, fairly often. One well-known yachting journalist was the boat owner and dragged her husband around with her and kept him from his landscape gardening. Another couple of ladies who were more than good friends made good company when we were next-door in Jersey for a few days.

I didn't meet the female owner, but I did meet her husband in the showers at, IIRC, Falmouth some decades ago . I casually observed that the sea had been rather boisterous that day (when I'd come round the Lizard IIRC). He glumly agreed, and said he didn't much like sailing, but only did it to keep his wife happy. It occurred to me that was the reverse of the more familiar roles in that regard.

An indication of the then prevalent sexist attitudes was that when harbourmasters and other officials came alongside they always spoke to me first and addressed me as 'Skipper' . It was amusing to see their faces when I pointed to the lady owner, who was far more experienced and competent than me, and said "She's the skipper."

It used to annoy her; and rightly so.

Or the rather alarming British woman I encountered in a port in Brittany, who was barely able to hide her opinion that my attempts at assisting her secure her boat alongside were more of a hindrance than a help

Her husband was a pleasant chap; though he must have had a lot to put up with. Reminded me of Margaret and Denis Thatcher, or Fanny and Johnny Craddock.
