DVD Player

I have just installed a flat sceen TV and DVD player on my boat. Right now I am usually onboard 4 days a week and the long evenings make having a 'box' on board quite nice. I never thought I would do this.. but hohum..

Anyway it is much the best solution was to mount the DVD player on its side...but is this okay? The player worked okay but then started jumping and stopping. I only had the 1 disc at the time so couldn't make out if it was a 'bad' disc or my player being on its side..

Any ideas?

Looking at the trays of the pc cd drive and our player shows that the pc cd drive has small "tangs" so that the drive can be used sideways?, on the dvd drive it's just a plain tray so there's nothing to hold the disc in place?
