Coming alongside pontoons with a cross-wind - advice needed please!

What a brilliant post!
Take-off and landing are for me by far the least enjoyable parts of sailing.
We all have experienced embarrasing incidents in marinas, as witnesses, recipients or, yes, donors!
After several decades of sailing, I still found lots of useful tips in Duncan Wells' Stress-Free Sailing. Highly reccommended.
