If anyone has a boat in dauntless worth checking it. Apparently a couple opf lads who had just arrived a few weeks ago were living on their boat and got pissed up and went round breaking into boats and ripping out instrumentation etc, looking to get more beer money.

Just been down to mine after a week, they left it wide open with hatch slid back, luckily the doghouse kept out the rain. They had ripped of the garmin unit but left it on the chart table, and the radar screen was sitting there, easy to take but mebbe too old for them :) I suspect they got disturbed as I think the carnage ended at my boat. I'll find out from the yard tomorrow, who appaerntly had difficulty in contacting me. Funny their bill arrives ok every month by email!

Have they been nicked?
I very much doubt it if the reaction of the police is anything like happened in this video -

Guy is asleep in boat in marina somewhere in the South of England, when he gets disturbed in the middle of the night. Scrote runs off and swims to shore, and it is then found that a huge amount of damage to boats and cars has been caused in the marina. Boat owner manages to identify scrote, and passes details to police who couldn't be less interested. Didn't even send a bobby round on a bicycle. Unbelievable and disgraceful.

The smackhead plastic boat that was repeatedly nicking stuff from other boaters in Castlefield Manchester with little or no interest from the police was eventually rammed and sunk by the pissed off owner of a narrowboat.

Castlefield Boat Wars (it wasn't my sinister black narrowboat by the way)

Sorry to hear that Steve. Good job you’re not someone who gives up easily.

many years ago when mobile phones were less common and sophisticated I saw some lads climbing out of a boat on the mud at Westcliff ( Essex ). I rang the police and said that I was near the casino. Is that in Margate they said. No, near Southend. Oh, you have been connected to Kent police. So much for a prompt response!
