Cheap(er) Lewmar

Any suggestions on the cheapest place to buy some new Lewmar (44st) or Antal (46st) winches. I'm keeping an eye on ebay but no luck so far /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I also have been on the hunt for some lewmar winches over the last couple of month. I made many phone calls getting quotes. even priced up importing them. in the end i found that seateach in emsworth came out cheapest not discounted by much.

i purchased a set of st28's from them...

as you say worth looking on ebay, if you are in no hurry.

Tried MarineScene? Bit cheaper than most at £570, although winch prices are ridiculously high.

Just seen Antal 46ST in the Mailspeed clearout for 750 quid each if that is any help.

You are right that was the Harken price.

The Antals are 589 quid for a 44 or 669 quid for a 48

Right, but the £589 Antal 44ST is an ordinary black anodised one - MarineScene do the Lewmar 44ST anodised version at £530.

I bought two lewmar 40stc's last year from a chap at Newark boatjumble, they were £540 for the pair. He had other sizes as well. I'll look his no. up when I get to work tomorrow and post here in the evening.

Try Heron Yacht Services @ Brightlingsea. I bought 2 Lewmar 40CST winches for £780, much cheaper than anywhere else I could find. Cash/Cheque only, but dispatched carriage free on receipt of cheque, no waiting to clear. Google will pull up their basic website.

we had our old boat stripped of all the electronics and deck gear a few years back from the hamble.... i found a nice set of winches down the jumble one weekend with our boats hull number stamped on them. I got a bargain. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I know what you mean but this is all above board and genuine, the last thing I would want to do is give thieving scrotes any encouragement.

There is someone selling new lewmar winches on e bay. They are usually on "buy it now" option so go very quickly, you need to check every day. I know cos I got a pair of new ST28's for £350, plus I sold the old lewmar 30 2 speeds they replaced for £150 on ebay! Sorted!!!!

Thanks to all. I don't want to fit them until the winter so will keep watching ebay but will probably have to try one of the suggestions.

£780 for a pair of winches.... I haven't looked at prices until now, and I am shocked! You could buy a small old cruiser for less than a pair of winches - mine was only £1000 all in...... and I have got all this to look forward to in the years to come as I 'upgrade'.
