Always good to get a boat back in the water, where it should be, and great that you got the engines running well.

We are gearing up for re-launch next week after a winter of work. With a bit of luck we will get the engines back in the same day. 😁

I haven’t inspected the boat for over a week....so it’s either filthy or rain washed....but there has been so much Sahara sand in the rain😟

With the boat owner's usual luck, it's dirty. Really dirty.

So all it takes is a lot of elbow grease and some 1-2-3 miracle products at jeweller prices from your pusher 💸💸💸

I’m very impressed with progress to date. I can imagine people (that is to say, me) buying the boat as it was and giving up very soon after realising just what I’d bought. But this is turning into a very nice vessel.

Back on board today. Not a lot to report as most of what I have done is not obvious:
Resealed leaking windscreen - sikaflex.
Epoxied and then fibreglassed my fold down transom door, next stage is a bit of filling then flowcoat. If the weather holds later this week.
New mooring ropes!!! it now doesn't look like the gypsies just arrived, just as long as you ignore the tatty trim stripes, green slime and half an inch of mud all over it.
Next step is a serious jet washing, it is incredibly dirty on the outside.
Off to the Dulux centre over the weekend to pick out the paints for the bulkhead and galley cupboard doors. Colour scheme is going to be pale grey for bulkhead and cupboard frames. The saloon bedroom and bathroom cupboard doors will be a pale grey wood effect. Lighter than the one MrG used. The galley will be a mediteranean blue. I will post some pictures when it's mostly done.

PS minor set back on my windscreen mullion covers. Took them back to the garage two weeks ago for filling and fettling. All good ready to paint. Unfortunately a little bird has got in the garage while I have been away and pooped all over them! Why there you little sod? Never mind it will clean off easy enough

More progress, I have been filling sanding and painting - a lot! Couple of pics attached. So far everything is primed, undercoated and for now I have painted pretty much everything a pale grey. A lot of what you can see in the pictures will end up being wrapped in the grey wood effect vinyl (big roll arrived yesterday). But the smooth painted surfaces will create a good surface for the wrap to stick to and a consistent background colour incase there is any show through as the vinyl is quite a pale colour. Quite a lot of gaps and rough surfaces but don't be alarmed they are covered by doors, fittings, hinges etc. The garage is full of about 30 cupboard doors, drawers, trim panels etc all waiting to go back to the boat for final (hopefully) fitting. Need to leave all the painted bits for 4 or 5 days to make sure everythingis hard before handling.

In teh pics the masking tape is still on everything so it looks a bit of a mess. It doesn't now though.

Started fitting the interior back together today:
Panles in above the galley and below the starboard windscreen plus the window frame trims are in.

Saloon Port side trim panels in and wrapped in DC FiX - which is fantastic stuff! Really easy to use. The light switch and sockets work too!

Saloon Starboard side panels in and wrapped. Not sure yet what I am doing with the three white plywood panels below the grey wood effect. There will be a sofa bed in front of it so I will wait until the sofa is installed and see what I think then.

Galley cupboard doors are now painted, but will need another two coats to get teh finish right so they will be a few weeks away

Another wrap covert! How did you get on with it? Pretty forgiving stuff and looks brilliant! I really like the lighter wood grain effect

What’s the plans for the dash? I’m just working on a fully digital dash project which so far…..is going well. I’ll do a post at some point

The wrap is great stuff. Very easy to work with, corners, bends etc, a little bit of heat and it goes stretchy and more sticky. I have already done some of the newly made cupboard doors. Really easy and amazingly fast to do. I have used 3M wrap vinyl in the past but the DC fix is much easier.

Dashboard wise I am thinking recessed gauges and gloss black plastic surround, in a horizontal row across the top with the oil and temp etc paired. A local firm does laser cutting of plastic. Digital voltage gauges. All boaty switches will be left of steering wheel - carling style. Right of the steering wheel will be matching Voltage/power meters for domestic, inverter and shore power electrics.

Post some pics of your digital dash when you get chance.

I bought one of these Chinese boxes to convert analogue to NMEA. It’s worked great! It’s a mermaid engine so I wasn’t sure it would work but it’s been pretty easy. It just goes into the plotter and bingo…..rpm, oil pressure, coolant temp, trans pressure….you can do alarms too.

Consider air on board for switches too. I like them alot

AIR ON BOARD (AOB) - Search results for: 'Marine'

They have an eBay site. Lots of options and no labels needed then

So how does that sorcery work?

Could we do something with our Perkins M265TI agricultural engines to create NMEA data to feed into our Raymarine Axioms?
