Interesting observation..
The only thing you will guarantee to touch will be your mooring lines and tender of you row ashore. Apart from that you have no reason to touch anything except the gate to the pontoons. But even then you can (and should) practice self protection by way of wearing gloves etc.

Because in order for the "message" to work, people must be able to understand how it works.

Staying at home if you normally go to football matches on crowded trains and drink in crowded pubs will reduce the chance of infection.
Staying at home if you normally sail with just your partner will not change the likelihood of getting infected.

What the government is doing at the moment is the equivalent of applying a blanket 20 mph speed limit to all roads, including motorways, because there is a higher risk of an accident involving pedestrians in towns.

You are quite right, but what the govt can't do is say "Plebs stay in your flats and don't go out - yacht owners feel free to swan about in your yachts".

I would love it to to be otherwise - a full summer of swanning around the Hebrides whilst "working from home" would be lovely, if stressful trying to get a 3g signal every other day. It would be quite possible to load the boat up with enough provisions for a month at a time, but sadly won't happen.

You don’t need to know how it works. You just need to do what you are told.

I have always admired the restraint and general politeness shown on this Sub-Forum but honestly Tomahawk I am surprised your head hasnt
exploded with your ego and arrogance. I'm sure we are all frustrated atm, but to use the expression 'skipper not a winch monkey' displays a aspect
and expression I have never heard before. I have had some of my best experiences of sailing in my life in both roles. I seriously suggest you seek therapy.
