Use to see "Kids Inheritance" in the Solent.

many Westerly GK29's incorporated the GK into the boat name, ours was Gratifikation so we named the dinghy 'Thanks'. The subltlest was (GK) Chesterton.

'Get Knotted' exists, what response to.......
"Solent CG Solent CG Solent CG Get Knotted Get Knotted Get Knotted"

I wonder if anyone has ever named their boat "Spartacus" - I just imagine the call going up, "I am Spartacus", "No, I am Spartacus" and so on...

There used to be a "Hitchhikers" fan on the Medina with slartibartfast as the boat name and I always thought exactly the same as this post when I saw it

Often seen it in Haslar - as well as Magrathea.

I used crew on RORC races for an OOD 34 called Red Alert (and yes the hull was red). Distress calls could have been interesting!

Looked at a boat that had its name taped over the previous boat name. Furkin. Nice name I thought, why change it. He got so fed up with the local harbourmaster giving him stick and leg pulling when he was going in and out of the harbour.

The company that I used to work for named it’s bulk carriers and tankers after places in Scotland starting with “E”. Eriskay, Erisort, Eriboll, Eredine were fine but then the supply of Scots place names ran out and we found ourselves with an SD14 named after the Erawan channel. It was very soon pointed out that "Erawan" is Thai for "White Elephant" and then the fleet was waiting with bated breath for "Error Two"..

And from the very same people… this snap was taken a few hours ago in New Plymouth, New Zealand:

The ones I remember are (were?):

Shy Talk (Virgo Voyager IIRC)

Shy Tot (Bavaria, used to be in Portsmouth Hr)

Sh*t Hot (Poole based speedboat with the name down the side in day glo orange - and they didn’t use the * either!)

Also well up in the vulgarity league was a very big, bright yellow yacht - a Trintella I think - seen in Guernsey many years ago called ‘Just beer money’. Further proof that money doesn’t buy class.

I would have liked to call my boat Bam Bam (one of my favourite Toots and the Maytals songs). We rejected it as sounding too much like Pan Pan.

There's one ashore at Galmpton called Piseas but the first two letters are replaced by the symbol π. How do you spell that phonetically in an emergency?

"Solent Coastguard, Solent Coastguard: Hoof Hearted, Hoof Hearted?"

Or better still: Mayday mayday mayday... Hoof hearted, hoof hearted. Hoof hearted.

I would like to think it has really been used..... actually remembered from an early PBO/YM article discussing appropriate boat names 30-40 years ago, when this sort of thing mattered more.
