Boat names unsuitable for radio

We had a Macwester called "Monkey"

Me. Dover CG this is monkey
CG. Errr Monkey as in errr..........loooong pause
Me. As in Monkey
CG. Yes that's what I was thinking, as in, Monkey.

Up until then we'd thought it quite normal???

Io

Someone mentioned an Io on here recently. Presumably owned by a dwarf :D

No, Io was a nymph who was seduced by Zeus according to Greek mythology.
Why do I know this? Because I have just spent two weeks on a chartered yacht in Greece called "Io Dio" (means Io the god, or something like it.)

By the end of the holiday and stacks of VHF traffic the rest of the fleet had re-named us "Idiot Idiot Idiot".

It's also a moon. Unfortunately on a radio call:

"This is IO IO IO"
"off to work sir?"

Heard an MRCC the other week calling an angling boat called Weigh Anchor.

(If you say it quickly...:D)

There was also a Chinese cargo ship that used to transit the Dover Straits called the Wang King.
