Too much thinking going on here. Would look great on my mooring in Oban and not cost too much either. Nice looking and the interior would work for me. Not sure I want a ketch. Single handed it’s better to keep things simple.
As for the price. My views have changed somewhat. If you want to sell a boat, your better finding a buyer rather than fixating on a price. She could sell this week with a more realistic price for sale.

'Comfort' is an interesting one.
We often see old fashioned designs (Amels, Tayanas, etc) rolling at anchor much worse than the flat bottomed, high form stability, modern designs. I presume it's the high moment of inertia and narrow beam.

But the old lead mines are probably more comfortable upwind in large seas.

With one BIG caveat - the boat that DD flags that you suggest is unsuitable ….. has actually been bought, gone sailing, crossed an Ocean twice so clearly isn’t as unsuitable as you suggest.
The other suggestions are forum chat / dreams, not actual voyages.
So has a caprice, we are not talking about just crossing oceans, but buying, secondhand, an ocean crossing boat similar in spec to this old moody 44.
And I never said its unsuitable, I said its not comparable, and thats what matters.
Lusty D gets that.
Otherwise it will just be another man's are good/bad and awbs are good/bad thread, and we have plenty of them already.

Was this deliberate? .... 25% off the original asking price already ....

Nope, read my original post. Its 45k, he’ll discount again considerably according to the broker. He doesn’t need money, he wants his boat sailing again, and no dount wants to avoid the not inconsiderable cost of keeping such a big boat in cowes :)

I meant did the broker deliberately leave a higher price in his comments in a not-so-subtle attempt to make prospective buyers think they are getting a bargain?

Instead of stating something like "now reduced to" or "price reduction" he left the higher price for prospective buyers to "find" in the comments, like it was a mistake?

Spent the best past of last year hunting for my current boat and I thought I had seen it all regarding brokers and "once in a lifetime" bargains.

I disagree with this. As a cruiser it lacks space, costs a lot to maintain, berth, lift out, and lacks the space for modern amenities like solar and decent showers. A good modern 44 isn't much more so most people planning to cruise will be choosing those. These older designs appeal mostly to people who for whatever reason believe they are somehow more solid than a boat produced with modern tools and techniques, and those who believe older designs sail better. Neither of these things is true, so there's a very limited market. I don't think many people will be about to set off cruising who don't already have a boat and are in the demographic that holds those views. The older folk will likely already own one, and the younger folk don't own the rose tinted glasses.

I hate reading things that are true, but I don't want to be true. :(
