The other evening - end of a perfect day - the sun just going down

so I had already drunk one gin and tonic and was making an assault on the second.

I was at anchor - a bruce as it happens

I had just phoned the RNLI and was waiting for them to phone me back to tell me what time they would be arriving to tow me home

I had bought some red diesel - it had blocked the injectors

last time I will be using red - I can tell you

I was on the Walton Backwaters - you know, where Arthur sailed, rubbish books I think

the kettle was on - Origo stove - so much safer than gas

when a mobo went past - fast as it happened

he stopped, turned around offering me a double wash and pointed out that I was still flying my ensign - red as it happens

and that my anchor ball was too high in the rigging - a folding one as it happens

is it true that I should not be flying a red ensign at anchor and that my ball was too high?

is it right that mobo owners should go around offering advice to sailors?
