Well after all my posts we finally pulled the trigger and put our deposit on a new to us Marine Projects Pilgrim 25, wont trouble any speed records but should be fairly frugal running 2 x late vintage Perkins 4108 on Penta outdrives, brace yourselves for more questions and thanks for all the help so far, sorry can,t resist may as well get my first question in.

When we bought a project Narrowboat it passed the boat safety scheme with the old cooker fitted, the vendor of our new toy says it will need a new cooker to pass the test as it’s got no flame safe that stops the gas if flame goes out, common sense tells me he is probably right but before I shell out £500 on a new cooker has anyone direct experience of this?

Throw the cooker away and fit a 2 burner camping stove.
Real sailors eat their FB pies raw.
Oh a d buy some ear plugs or sound proofing
Happy boating!

This is what the BSS says

How does a spirit stove comply with 26? the only control is the knob(s) on the front of the stove. That does not sound like a valve located at a safe distance from the appliance?

This is a theoretical question if you get a picky BSS inspector. In the real world I nave never had a problem with a spirit stove and in any case that is what your fire blanket is for.

Congratulations on your purchase, will we get to hear you with a /MM suffix to your call sign? :D
Sadly not, part of the deal with the Mrs who was sold on a caravan instead of a boat was I gave up my ham radio, will let the dust settle and a s/h ICOM 7300 will seem a bargain after she gets used to boat costs 😁😁😁
