I have used both, on a couple of boats. The polymeric one is good on flat areas, but doesn’t conform to any uneven substrate where the lead one is easier to shape over lumps and bumps. A good spray contact adhesive is the way forward.
As a bit of a left field choice, have a look at a Hallberg Rassy 312, we had a mk11 for over 8 years. Sails very well, easy to single hand and has the cosy finish below.
I have recently used Sam Parker of Parker Marine (Parker Marine) and he did a great job of removing our boat’s previous owner’, “parking rash”. I have seen some of his major rebuild work and it looks very good.

The Gosport Boat Yard moorings that were mentioned earlier are a good compromise, the water taxi works well and there is dinghy storage on the end of Sultans pier. I kept my boat there for year.

We used a carpet company in Basingstoke, the used the old ones as templates and did the rug edging on any carpet we chose, as johnalison said rubber backed is the way to go. Very happy with the results.
Recently did Carina’s with the lead lined, foil covered stuff from ASAP, fixed with sparky contact adhesive and edged with Ali tape. Made 6 dB reduction in the cabin. The only down side is that the companion steps now weigh a fair bit more than they did!

The new yard that has just opened up at the South end of Royal Clarence Yard called Victoria Quay is very good, I got a life wash and re-launch there last week. No other associated link, just a happy customer.
My Grandfather’s boat was Blaze, as he he was in the fire service all of his working life, My Father, who was also in the service named his boat Blaze Too as he felt it nicer than Blaze II. Also less complicated to spell out over the radio. Tango Oscar Oscar.
I have had the plug in Bad Elf for some time now and it works very well. It has a charge through socket so that the iPad can stay on charge while in use.
