With the boat loaded for a trip to ryde harbour for a night stay the engine was started to warm it up before untying the ropes. There has been a lot of weed around the pontoon so i cleared as much as i could so not to suck any in to the intake holes on my bravo drive. With in no time we were on our way and i was cruising along at a steady 6 knots out of Langstone harbour when i noticed the engine temp starting to climb above 80 . Straight away i knew that i had sucked up weed so i quickly moored the boat on to the nearest bouy . With the drive at full tilt i could see the weed blocking the intake holes so with my t-shirt off and me laying on the dive platform i had try and unblock the intake. It is not a easy task when the boat is rocking around and your arm is at full extension and water is ice cold . Finally i managed to clear enough to restart the engine. I did suck some weed in to the strainer but a quick unscrew of the strainer lid the weed was removed and finally after 25 minutes we were on our way and engine temp correct. oh and guess what on the way back on to my pontoon the i managed to block the intake again but this time i put my chest waders on and unblocked the intake at low tide as my berth drys out. So another one to add to the list.
