The electro magnetic element of the storm is northerly rather than southerly, so unless it changes (which it did at the last minute in the big one the other week) then we are unlikely to see anything exciting

Don't understand the Westerly bit, it depends more on how far south or north you are

Well there is no cloud here at the moment and I can see a lot of activity in the sky. Different coloured traces with regular explosions etc. in all directions. Is that what I'm meant to see with such a phenomenum as this ?

No, those are simple stars in front of your eyes. Probably fell over and banged head earlier. Are you hearing tinnitus type whooshing noises and explosions as well? Better get checked for concussion

Ah, but it was south and west which had very best views last week! when rest of country under cloud.

Just wondered if you meant westerly on Sun, as that is where the sunspots have headed.

Looks like magnetic component of latest huge solar storm is turning southerly as I watch real time monitors, so a chance of Auroras, but the storm wasn't heading directly at earth like last week so not much chance of sightings at our latitudes /forums/images/icons/frown.gif Absolutely huge though - so big they can't tell how big it was as the detectors went out of range - so all they can do is estimate it.
