During the winter we replaced the Bilge pump on our Sadler 29 with a new one from Whale, the old one was 20 years old and had a split diaphragm.
Once fitted the new pump worked well with good suction, however the second time we tried, it simply would not work, there was pressure in the pump handle but no water was being passed up from the bilge. We removed the pump and could not find any reason for its failure, we took it back the chandlery and thay agreed to change it.
Last weekend we fitted the replacement pump and exactly the same, it worked for the first couple of times and then nothing.
We wonder if we have a split pipe somewhere from the bilge to the pump, or can anyone suggest any other reason, I fear we maybe missing something very obvious here but can’t see it.
Would appreciate any advice.

Regards

Derek

Sounds like a blockage. You imply the pump gets harder to pump after a couple of goes, when you took it off did you get an air release/inrush?
