I've just had a quote to supply (fitting extra!) a starter motor for a volvo penta 2003 of £300. Is this a sensible figure and does anyone know of a supplier who may be able to get one any cheaper??
You don't state the problem but, have you considered a repair or re-wind. My Volvo MD2 starter was totally re-furbished for circa £35, still going strong after 6 years.
phone sabre up (numbers below) and ask for technical help, ask the question what perkins engine is the VP 2003 based on?
I know that the VP 2030 is the perkins M3 and all the bits fit and are available as perkins or other manufacturers bits. once you know what it is based on you can then source spares from a motor factor
my volvo 200hp starter motor was not working so i took it to the starter repair shop same one that car mechanics use an 70 quid later a working starter.
done this many times with every make and they are always helpful
