UK to Adriatic

I would like to take a shallow keeled yacht across to Europe then through inland waterways to the Adriatic. I’ve found a fair bit of info. for routes to South of France but can’t find anything for the Adriatic. Is it possible? If so, any ideas for routes, advice, etc?

I am afraid you will have to go all the way round italy ,once you pop out into the med nobody has built any canals east of Marseille- still you could take a shovel

follow the eastern path: through German waterways, Danube to Austria, then lift and hire a truck to Trieste, should not be too exp

I confirm there are no navigable canals in Italy. Roberto's suggestion seems the most sensible: Vienna is only some 5 hours' drive from Trieste (actually Monfalcone would be the nearest point to launch). Might be able to find the names of one or two shippers if you're interested; we have a lot of Austrian boats in our marina.

This sounds like an interesting bit of lateral thinking ,need a reasonably powerful engine up the rhine though....

Yes please, I would be interested in names of any shipping companies.

Also, would be grateful if anyone has any details on websites, books, articles, etc on the "eastern route".
