Is it not 'set' as in set off and not 'set' as in the setting of the sails....?I know submarines have sails - but if she set sail - she does not really need a propellor (as she will be handled by tugs when she arrives)
But why do we persist in saying that an aircraft carrier, or any other vessel, 'set sail' for (anywhere)

What about ‘set’ as in sunset...Is it not 'set' as in set off and not 'set' as in the setting of the sails....?
or game............What about ‘set’ as in sunset...
Don't quite think you are on the page with this. And is the second one on its way, as part of strategic planning, the fall back, to replace the disabled vessel?
Now that would show forward and imaginative forward thinking.
No mention of a replacement vessel -
platitudes....?

Does England not have a dry dock big enough?Suggestions of dry docking for fix in......Amsterdam! The ship's company who are not involved will be well happy with that run ashore.

Does England not have a dry dock big enough?
Sources onboard HMS Prince of Wales have told the UK Defence Journal that the damaged aircraft carrier will likely head to a drydock in Amsterdam for repairs.Rosyth not available?
What kind of anchor was Adam LNG using? Had it dragged the collision might have been avoided...
Ship might be held to ransom...???????Rosyth not available?
Do the Royal Navy not have maps these days? Maybe the Admiral didn't do Geography as well as English...Amsterdam in this case is closer and easier to get to, but this has yet to be officially confirmed.
