when towing a boat with a dinghy alongside what is the best position to tie dinghy alongside. we moved a boat last week that had come off its mooring and had the dinghy tide near the stern ,but the boat just went round in circles so we moved it forward near to amidships and it was better and did the job. But where is the best place to position the dinghy. We have another one to move today. the last boat was locked and the owner was on holiday and this boat the owner was taken into hospital last night and we want to take it out of the water for the owner (one less worry) this is also locked hence the towing. Thanks Kieron

Assuming that the dinghy has an OB with reverse, or can rotate through 180 degrees, then the middle of the dinghy should be roughly amidships with the propellor abeam of the boat's centre of lateral resistance. That will give you the best leverage and steerage.
