Thru hull fitting

No bouba your comments should be left for all time for everyone to see.

You still have not addressed the problem and I bet not kept the stuff to show the generator person.

It was the quantity to show never mind to late now.
In about the first page or so of the thread Bouba spoke of both rust and corrosion, that he used WD40 and a screwdriver to dig it out, that he'd dug out handful, and I think at that point it was still preventing the seacock from closing.

But Bouba seems determined to do anything but address the issue that was concerning him.

We just need to know from him whether he is still launching on Saturday. 😁

I got the launch postponed to Wednesday...mostly because of the wind. Pulling the generator apart before the technician arrives is a bit premature....my first thought when I saw the rust was the seacock...turned out not to be...which is a shame because it’s the cheapest option

What a surprise!

(We told you it almost certainly wasn't! 😛 )

Yes...but I wanted to replace my thru hulls with Trudesign for a long time...this was my chance

Lovely. But you let it distract you from dealing with the real issue that needed addressing.

Never mind, though. I've got some boat torture maintenance coming up imminently, so you can get your own back! :D

What is the real issue???

That your through-hull and seacock was full of what you said you thought was rust and corrosion (to the extent you could close the seacock). You still don't know whether that is what it was or where it has come from, and if it was rust there's something somewhere in your boat that is a lot thinner than it should be (or worse).

It can only come from the generator...between the generator and the exhaust separator (which I think is plastic)...so...for the twentieth time...THE ONAN ENGINEER IS COMING AS SOON AS THE BOAT IS IN THE WATER....I will tell you exactly what he says (if he speaks Franglais) as soon as he says it

What value has this guy got , to let it get into this state ?
What’s the previous yrs invoices say ?

How easy is it to remove from the boat ……in or out of the water ?

I mean is it better he sees it ( or better you post the pics I requested) before it goes back into the water .

The rusty part might necessitate geny removal from the boat to replace it / refurb what’s corroded from it leaking properly.

The diagnosis is simple you got a large amount of rust from somewhere betweenthe intake and the exit of the water pipe.
If is not the intake valve and the otherparts are plasticwhere can the rust have come from?

I’m hoping that rusty pipes are an easy cheap fix...and that is the only problem
