Thru hull fitting

Well I wasn’t expecting the mechanical Shan to contribute here…but your two cents is as welcome as anyone else’s…the mechanic is already scheduled to come for the generator service..so I thought I should leave it to him/her for an expert opinion
Bouba, I think the average chimp is more mechanically and technically minded than you.

I can see a new thread next week about generator woes and that the boat has to be lifted out of the water for the mechanic to complete .......

I dread to think what the problem might be…I am hoping it’s just an easy to get part that is cheap to replace…😳

I may have missed the boat now, but here's the photos I said I'd post of the Trudesign components. The tricky bit with the support collar is cutting down the thread on teh skin fitting so that the valve screws down far enough such that the colar bears against the hull surface to provide the extra rigidity.

I haven’t got the collar..I’m going to install it next time the boat is out the water…the fitting is in part of the lazaret that no one would go near so I am sure the fitting is safe.
It looks like you are doing the engine water intake…that one I will leave to last as it’s the biggest job…my plan is next year to change the shower outlet and toilet inlet…I might have to get creative because they are in a tight position under the bathroom.
Thanks for your imput…look forward to the rest…especially your technique for removing the old fitting

Shan, everyone here as contributed some knowledge that has helped me and more importantly has provided a reference for anyone in the future who is contemplating this job…sure there is banter…but I welcome that as part of the camaraderie that makes this forum special…but from you..all we have is malice

Is this the same “ expert “ that’s allowed it to get in this state ?
Where are the pics of the back side of the geny for us to feast on 😀.

Whip the anode in the HE out and show us a pic of that before the tech gets ( hopefully? ) a wrench on it .
Boats on the hard all drained down .

I spent all morning in the lazaret prepping the thru hull and I completely forgot 🥺...I’m going back tomorrow when the sikaflex has cured and will take the picture then...sorry😎

Well bouba, I would suggest that as others have suggested, that you make certain that your generator is not slowly rotting away into a puddle of rust. Secondly, I would say you do reap what you sow. You made a particularly obnoxious comment to me about women being disgusting creatures. Moderate your attitude and I will happily moderate mine.

Shan...there are three versions of this forum...the practical ones that are open to the public and come up when googled...the lounge which is a moderately free area for humor and is not an open to non members ...and the YBW2 which is private and completely free for all...just know your place

Bouba - I don't believe your anachronistic misogyny is acceptable anywhere.

Shan, you read into everything what you want..know your place means edit your comments for the appropriate forum..and the other comment was (and this is why the other forum isn’t for everyone) a discussion on dirty underwear...

Knowing your place? Is that coming from someone that couldn't handle the heat on YBW2, so flounced?

No Bouba, I read exactly what you wrote. Anyway, I would suggest we agree to disagree.

If the moderator could erase Shan’s comment and my replies to them, I would appreciate that

Exactly, I don’t like nastiness...and especially don’t want it in a public forum on a technical subject

No bouba your comments should be left for all time for everyone to see.

You still have not addressed the problem and I bet not kept the stuff to show the generator person.

I can get some rust rust particulates from the hose pipe....do you really think anyone wants to see them?
