Thru hull fitting

My money is still on fouling as I suggested four days ago.

If it was coming from the generator it would be washed out with the cooling water.
Obviously that is what I’m hoping for as well...but at first glance (and second and third..) it’s impossible to say...so Fr Hackett’s idea of rust mixed with marine life is looking the best bet...we shall see

Get the engineer to check the exhaust elbow
That's my bet as I replaced my Onan elbow (11kva) after 12 years as a maintenance item as i had just replaced my M135 engine elbows.

As you can see from the pics it was just in time. I had a small leak at the gasket which caused staining at the rear of the geny but clearly some rust inside the elbow at the mixing point which could only get worse. Kept it as an emergency spare.

The inside with the covers off esp the manifold elbow .Also the anode when removed as it’s all drained down now .
Don‘t you ever inspect inside the sound covers ?
I regularly take off the front cover and inspect...I never take off the whole box

Inspect it for visible surface rust and leaks esp the far side .Use a camera phone to look down .
Having heard what DAW and Marc have posted re Onans rusting there manifolds , plus a quick tinternet search on said subject you need to double check yours is ok .

Be quick before someone when it’s in the water steps on the unsupported plastic ( no collar ) skin fitting and snaps it = boat sinks .

Have you ran the geny ? Maybe anchor up and jump in with a snorkel and see clearly the colour of the water exiting that originally blocked sea cock .Adding an important piece to the puzzle .

That would have been a good idea....never thought of it...I decided to leave it off ready for the mechanic...if he finds a rusty piece, I don’t think I want it going through my new Teflon seacock

He’s gonna run it to observe with as many visual obstructions eg sound covers removed .

Have you told him about the issue yet ?

It was mentioned in the email exchange...it’s a big company so I don’t know how much information gets to the technician on the boat...but I will be there to explain all

A rubber pipe seems to have built up some sort of restriction (like atherosclerosis) causing pressure on the water pump, blowing the gasket.
To replace the pipe, rusty water pump and sender which had water dripping on it has added €1500 to my €6000 service 😱🤬😟😞

nice, that's the price to pay for boating in the SoF I guess. So how much is the pipe, the water pump (is that the fresh water pump circulating coolant inside the engine?) and the sender?
I'm not asking labour costs, I guess 700-800euro 😁
Sender (if its the one on the mid pic) is tops 50euro and doubt it needs replacing, removal, clean, maybe paint and refit should be enough (imho)
so pipe is 100 and pump 500 (all excessive but I'm not paying so don't mind tbh)
