How does a BMW 7 series compare to a Bentley or a Panamera for long distance cruising?
Very well a newer vs is the Rolls Royce platform .....so it’s got all that hidden engineering stuff for uber refinement .
As you know they do a d , but also ( been hunting ) a “e” .
The “e” has a 2.0 L petrol turbo + plug in hybrid ( 29 miles range ) .....min tax etc .
Well spotted.

Once your house in Antibes is full of your boat stuff you won’t need such a big car

There'll be no room for my boat stuff. If its anything like our house in the UK, it will be full of her stuff and my stuff will be banished to the garage ?

French fines. Around €30. Been flashed here in Germany, but nothing showed up in the post. Must be the special number plates...

I wonder if that will be one of the very few post Brexit benefits in that Europlods wont have access to our database?

Once he'll have a house and a boat in Antibes, why would he need anything else than a scooter for enjoying SoF coastal roads?
Actually decent scooters are pretty much as expensive as motorbikes. I did think about buying a scooter for SoF but in the end I bought a Honda Africa Twin motorbike, which would be a better for riding in the mountains when I felt like a bit of a blast. Sadly that is still sitting in my garage in the UK for obvious reasons. I was going to ride it to SoF this month

No. I’m the guy who has to say to his wife, every time I want something, Mike’s wife let’s him

I've told you this before. You need to man up more and show her who's boss. They love that really, even though they won't admit it

Our boat isn't in the Med so I shouldn't be on here but speaking as the director of a long established retail business and part owner of a visitor attraction, both of which are shut, I thought it was a terrible statement, riddled with internal contradictions, imprecise and unhelpful, and above all still relying on Ferguson's random number generator.
Oh the other thing, we live 3 miles from the River Wye. We can now drive as far as we like heading north, east, or south to take exercise. But if we drive 4 miles West we can be arrested.

Bozo said “ quarantine by air “ and you can go out and drive further .
So it’s shaping up a mid June flit through the EU by car ,

Nope maybe not at least for us

Quarantine measures will not apply to France, say Downing St and Elysée
Boris Johnson and Emmanuel Macron, the French President, have agreed quarantine measures would not apply between France and the UK "at this stage", according to a joint statement.
See details of the quarantine in the post at 19.11.
Downing Street issued the statement after the pair spoke on Sunday.
"The leaders spoke about the need to manage the risk of new transmissions arising from abroad, as the rate of coronavirus decreases domestically," it read.
"In this regard, the Prime Minister and the President agreed to work together in taking forward appropriate border measures. This co-operation is particularly necessary for the management of our common border.
"No quarantine measures would apply to travellers coming from France at this stage; any measures on either side would be taken in a concerted and reciprocal manner. A working group between the two governments will be set up to ensure this consultation throughout the coming weeks."

How does a BMW 7 series compare to a Bentley or a Panamera for long distance cruising?
I've had 7 Series BMWs for the last 30ish years
Apart from a brief ownership of a Bentley (one of the older Rolls Royce ones) - the worst car I have ever owned.

Anyway, back to the point my current 7 Series is an oldish F01 model - the best I had was an E38 (740 V8 petrol)
This current F01 is by far the most economical - tank holds about 80 litres and I can get close to 600 miles out of it (this one is a 730 - diesel).
That said, I'm retired so I set the cruiser at 75mph and leave it there.
On the run to Sant Carles, we usually use Brittany Ferries to either Bilbao or Santander and it usually does that kind of fuel burn.
But over the last few years, we have been towing a small box trailer.
It was only my last run back a few weeks ago when we had to drive through France to the tunnel that I realised just how much the trailer knackers the fuel burn.
We were just about managing 350ish miles on a tank - thats nearly double the fuel consumption.
Again the speed was set to between 70mph and 75mph.

BTW - the trailer has been a really great investment.
Once at the marina. it becomes a kind of "shed on wheels".
I chose a single axle this time to make it easier to manoeuvre.
In the past, I have had lots of twin axle trailers.
But this one is just about the right size to get stuff to and from the boat.

So it’s Monday morning and I am on my boat ?
The anti foul has been done and the prop anode has been replaced.
The bad news is all my batteries are flat, I’m charging them now I just hope that this isn’t going to cost a fortune sooner rather than later. The weather is shite.
But other than that all looks good ????
