Make it easy on yourself, do what Porto does. Drive a Bentley

If only we could all live like him. He has a chauffeur as well so he can recline in the back with his cigar, sipping champagne from the cooler and nibbling canapes at 130kph

My Uni was 1400 km from my family home and I drove that in a day in a 1978 Toyota Corona when I set off in 1988. So longs drives in a more modern car are a doddle. My biggest problem driving now is not collecting speeding fines....
I initially read that it took you from 1978 to 1988 to get down there :)

Well, back in those years yellow looked stunning on my Ducati 350 Sport Desmo...
...and it was also good as a soft poo generator, at times! ?

Don’t even ask what colour it was. Look surprised when I tell you it was a hand me down car.

Dont expect any sympathy. Here in Blighty, the average student in my time would have considered a 10yr old car as brand new and just out of the showroom :p

I’m used to the drive down to sof, was 1027 miles door to door, might be another 50 miles to the boat, set off 4am and depending on traffic, arrive anywhere between 16.00 and 19.00.FB1B2B15-2F2B-4B3D-920B-1B7D2817ACB1.jpeg

A journey that long would take me two or three days. So you have the added danger of being in hotels where there is a risk of surface contamination. Oh how I miss my camper van

Panamera diesel, I get board driving there and back and try to keep myself occupied trying to get better mpg.

Pretty impressive mpg for a 93mph average. A huge shame Porsche dont have diesel engines in their model line up any more. Their petrol hybrid wont get anywhere near that mpg on a similar kind of run

Btw how many speeding tickets would you normally collect between UK and SoF averaging 93mph on the autoroutes? ;)

I can tell you how many tickets "MrsA" got on our last blast through Spain in January doing that. Three. That was on the Santander toward San Carles (Valencia) route. The Spanish Police now have tiny little portable cameras you can't spot.
We discovered a BMW 2.0L diesel does @50mpg at 120 Km/h on the return journey. But you really didn't want to know that.
