Definitely - the thread disappeared temporarily and I was rather disappointed. It's not going to serve as any useful advertising, since everyone agrees it's a stupid idea.

Other than that I appreciate the feedback, as useless as your opinion is in the grand scheme, the feedback is appreciated.

God Bless

Not impressed with the video presentation, but....

For 30 years, I used to own and operate a 60ft converted MFV. This was kept on a swinging mooring, and I used almost exactly the method shown here. When approaching a normal mooring with the pick-up buoy floating in the water, the pick-up buoy disappears from sight, from the wheelhouse, while still a long way from the mooring.

For my own mooring, I used a large dahn buoy with a hook on the top of the pole, so that the hook was just above the height of the bulwark at the bow. The riser chain being attached to the bottom of the dahn kept the buoy upright.

When leaving the mooring, and before letting anything go, I would steam up to the buoy, the crew would drop the pick-up buoy onto the hook, and then let go the mooring. On return it was easy to head right up to the mooring, and the crew would lift the pick-up off the hook, pull in the pennant, and make fast.

Now that I have a smaller boat, we just use a floating pick-up and a boathook, but for a large boat, with high freeboard, it is an excellent system

Like some others I tried to filll in the survey in good faith but experienced the same difficulty as others have described.

I'm also a bit surprised that an MBA student appears not to have given any thought to ethical issues in relation to this research. No offer of anonymity, no information about the purpose of the research, no information about the institution where the researcher is a student, or whom to contact if one has any questions, etc. etc.

Basically (a professional opinion) it's a piss-poor piece of survey design.

That is because it is not research but advertising, EZ-Moor as used in the video opening shots is a registered trademark according to the US parent website.

I suppose that "ez-moor solution to a problem that only a half-wit would allow to happen in the first place" hasn't got the same ring to it?

I have received abusive PMs from him so hope he will not return.

That's not on, and I can't see why he should pick on you for that kind of treatment.

Why is it that nearly everytime somebody comes on here with a bit of "research", or a student asks for help, that it ends in tears?

Because they usually have no understanding of the subject and ask moronic questions :)

Well, I suppose my question was a bit moronic too.:):)
But it does strike me as a little odd that people come here asking for something and are then so quick to take offence.

Just an observation really; I'm not going to lose any sleep over it!

Hi everyone,

I'd like to thank those users who pointed out evidence that showed the OP was using the forums for commercial gain.

The OP has been banned, not just for using the forums commerically but also for abusing forum members.

Thanks again for your help with this,

Laura
