Now, which of all the above comments, if any, apply to roundabouts in Traffic Separation Schemes (TSS)?

I thought I saw it all until I met a car going the wrong way around the roundabout,...... honest! He decided that the shortest way to exit 3 was to turn right !

Ah; so its you...

Who goes so slowly causing a frustrated queue to build up behind him compelling people to overtake on the roundabout just to get home this side of midnight!!!!

Cheers,

PS worse than roundabout overtakers are those who use their rear fog lights when you can see for miles!

In the situation that started this thread, I would probably end up being one of those that annoys you.

As both lanes have an equal claim on the exit I will often take the lane with the shortest queue.

I will then treat the roundabout like one of those annoying junctions where the two lane road merges into one immediately after it. In otherwords, the car with its nose in front gets the place in front.

I always try to judge the other car to determine whether they are likely to accelerate fast and try to compete for the front place. If so, i'll hang back and let them have it. Otherwise I will accelerate hard and nose in front, expecting the other car to slow down and allow me in.

If the other car was a scenic then I would assume that they will not try to compete with my car so if I met you at a roundabout I would expect you to allow me to merge in front of you.

The best way to get around a busy roundabout safely is to take a lead from Ben Hur, Im not sure if wheel spikes are against the law? but, after reading some of the posts I think I will get some, I believe most good chandlers stock them
safe driving

I must say I rather like the new kind with the spiral lane markings. If you enter from the correct lane then avoid any lane changing once you're on the roundabout you get automatically spat out at the correct exit. No fuss, no mess - easy!
