old flares

Anybody know where I can dispose of my old flares? Solent area would be good.

If you are on the Isle of Wight, Newport Police Station will take them in their lost property office and arrange disposal. Otherwise the options tend to be a coastguard station, the fire brigade or the shop where you are buying your new ones from.
If you belong to a sailing club you could always arrange a flare demonstration night (let the coastguard etc. know) and everyone can get some benefit from seeing them go off.
