There's a few more strings to your bowI have found string has surpassed all my wildest expectations.
Need something to tie your shoes, no problem use string,
Need something to hold your hat on, no problem use string.
Need something to lash down your dingy, no problem use string.
Need something to keep your glasses on, no problem use string.
Need something to keelhaul troublesome crew, no problem use string.
Need something to repair a sail, no problem use string.
Need something to .........
Guilty by association. Aiding and abetting carries the same penalty as the crime itselfOnly female ones - the males are innocent drinkers of plant sap!
Is it solar powered? Is it actually effective? We had 2 of these hanging in the cockpit to attract and zap the mozzi's
No batteries and no swatting needed
We do have a racket swatter but seldom use it as we use the one above

That reminder may have saved me a few quid - oly to spend it on Deet if we end up somewhere with mozzies.Mossies are not attracted to UV light in any form or way ... the only attraction there is if it gives of some 'heat' and you being close by exhaling CO2 .... and then its only odd Mossies that will go to it.

I was given one & have used it a couple of times when planning a route on the quick. However, I have one with rubber rollers that came from Cptn O M Watts 56 years ago & that is better. I cannot get on with parallel rullers but i do have a set of GPS position rulers & they are very handy if I have not got the Yeoman plugged in, or I am setting Yeoman plot points on a new chart.OK - just to jivvy things up ... the most useless items ??
I bought a pair of 'roller chart rules' one small - other large. I was a parallel ruler user - dab hand at walking a set across a chart ... but of course on a yacht - you don't have that massive chart bench. I saw a set of roller in a shop one day and thought - give em a try ...
example :
Bloody useless ! OK if boat is rock steady and no movement - but slightest twitch and rollers slip ... so back to two triangles and pair of dividers.
The Royal Air Force issued Douglas Protractors to all its navigators, back in the day. Like Wrist Watches, Navigators and Nav Bags.... pilots coveted them, but soon gave them back 'cos they didn't understand them/couldn't use them. Mostly because they mostly couldn't count to more than 20 - and that was with their shoes and socks off...I have 2 Douglas protractors. A 12 inch & a 6 inch & I am damned if I can use them.
Perhaps a thread on how to use one might be fun.The Royal Air Force issued Douglas Protractors to all its navigators, back in the day. Simplest device ever. That's what I was tsught to navigate with. And cheap!Perhaps a thread on how to use one might be fun.
Is this it? I've added the thin line it came without it, very quick for GPS coordinates, course or bearings/clearing bearings location. Part of the line goes through a thin ballpoint pen tube one can also draw segments of straight linesSimplest device ever. That's what I was tsught to navigate with. And cheap!
